That Luang (Great Stupa)

This Stupa, built in 1566, is a symbol of both the Buddhist religion and Lao sovereignty. The surface is gold color and shiny, so it’s marvelous. Largest Buddhist festival is held in early November, when is the full moon of the 12th month of the Buddhist calendar. then, many monks and Buddhists gather there. That Luang is about 4km northeast of the center of Vientiane.

Patousai (Victory Gate)

Patousai, built in the 1960s, is Vientiane’s most prominent monument. This monument looks like Arc de Triomphe in France, so it’s good looks. We can climb to the top and look over panorama of Vientiane. There are a lot of tourist and Laotiane who enjoy holiday in this park, too.


Wat Ho Phakeo

This building is a national museum of religious art today. It was originally built in 1565, once a royal temple. There had been a Emerald Buddha before, but the Siamese stole it and installed it in Bangkok’s Wat Phra Kaew in 1779. Later, Wat Ho Phakeo was razed during the Siamese-Lao war of 1828. When you look at Buddha in Ho Phakeo, you can see signs of the damage.


Wat Sisaket

Wat Sisaket, built in 1815, was attacks by the Siamese, too. It is believed to be Vientian’s oldest standing temple. The small buddha statues in the cloister 6,840 buddha statues. In side the SYM 2,052 buddha statues. Total the small one 8,892 buddha statues. Buddha medium size 120 buddha statues. Altogether 10,136 buddha statues.


Wat Simuang

This Wat is the most frequently used in Vientiane. There is a legend. Once the spot was chose to build the Wat, a large hole was dug to receive the heavy stone pillar. But the heavy stone won’t move. Then, a pregnant named Sao Si leaps in and killing her, so the stone fall down into the hole. A lot of woman visit here to make a wish.


That Dam

This Stupa, built in the 16th century, was once coated in a layer of gold. It is said that Siames have take off the layer of gold and the Stupa took the Dam (= black) sobriquet in memory of the dastardly act. This is sitting near the center of Vientiane.


Talat Sao (Morning Market)

This is the biggest market in Vientiane which carries offering mostly durable goods, fabrics, ready-made clothes, ranging from Lao handicrafts, jewellery,electronic goods and so on. Consisting of three main buildings, many laotians and tourist come to the mall of this new modern structure.


Wat Xieng Khuan (Buddha Park)

This is a park conceived in 1958. There ara a lot of Buddhist and Hindu sculpture which is just monument. A few restaurant offer Lao food and fresh coconuts juice. This park is located roughly 24km south of Vientiane.


Sunrise

We sometimes can see very beautiful sunrise. It show different color each cases. Let’s get up early in the morning to see it!


Sunset Mekong River

When you come to Vientiane, you should watch sunset in the Mekong river drinking Beer Lao. You can soak up the atmosphere of Laos.
